Strengthen Your Social Media

Learn How To Strengthen Your Social Media with On The Marc Media's Tips

When it comes to social media we all know how important it can be for your business. But how do you make the shift from a “personal posting” mentality to utilizing social media to boost your brand?

First, decide as a company if you want to primarily promote your “business” or your “brand”. Many times these words are used interchangeably but they are distinctly different. Your “business” is what products or services you provide whereas your “brand” is the image and personality behind your company.

Now that you have a general plan for your social media, here are the most important questions you should ask yourself.

Start by reviewing these questions about your business.

  • “What do we offer?”
  • “How is it unique?”
  • “What are our (monthly, quarterly and yearly) goals?”

Now, answer these questions about your audience.

  • “Who is our target social media audience?”
  • “What are they interested in?”
  • “How can we serve them?”
  • “What platforms will be best?”

Finally, discuss these questions about your company’s social media.

  • “What is our brand voice?”
  • “What are our brand goals?”
  • “What do we want our audience to do/feel/learn?”

Food for Thought:

Social media gives consumers the opportunity to connect with businesses in day-to-day life. While doing some research for a new pair of running shoes, someone might follow different brands on social media. In this instance “business” related posts such as pictures of shoes, styles and prices might be useful for that shopper, however, once they decide on a shoe, they no longer need to follow those companies. But, a company that has “brand” focused posts, such as fitness tips or healthy eating recipes, is fulfilling a need outside of the actual products the company sells. This gives the consumer a reason to continue following even after their purchase, creating brand awareness that can be helpful for the next time they are in the market for new shoes.

One Final Tip:

Don’t forget to review your social media progress often. When starting off, track your achievements and opportunities weekly. Look at past posts to assess how they performed and what you could do better.

With some intentional thought and careful planning, social media can be an excellent way to increase your brand awareness and share the value of your business.
