Maryland Public TV Dishes on Spotluck’s Viral Success
Maryland Public TV’s Behind the Biz discovers Spotluck, the nation’s #1 dining app that solves the age-old dining dilemma of choosing where to eat out. Co-founders Cherian Thomas and Brad Sayler share the insider scoop with Yolanda Vazquez on the app that has people spinning for discount meals across the DMV.
“The app is food meets fun meets local,” Thomas explains on air. Spotluck users who need to pick a place to eat simply choose a neighborhood (or hub) and spin a wheel to score a deal, worth up to 35% off. Spotluck features nearly 500 local restaurants in the D.C. area and offers deals in nearly 30 hubs, including Arlington, Dupont, Georgetown and Rockville.
But diners aren’t the only ones winning with Spotluck, Vazquez learns. “We’re pioneers in this space because we’re bringing yield management to restaurants,” Thomas explains. Spotluck fluctuates incentives based on weather, time and date. For example, the app gives diners higher discounts on a rainy Monday night compared to a sunny Friday evening–leaving both hungry customers and local restaurant owners satisfied.
Thomas dishes on the plans for the popular app’s expansion nationally and globally after recent success launching in Philadelphia.
Spotluck is the #1 Dining App nationwide on Apple’s App Store, and is also available at Google Play.
