Instagram’s Hyperlapse Speeds Things Up For Iphonographers
Everything always looks more fun when it’s sped up. We don’t know if that’s why Instagram unveiled its latest video feature called “Hyperlapse,” but fast forward seems to be a really effective way to entertain those of us with short attention spans.
The free “Hyperlapse” app was just released and allows users to easily capture high-quality timelapse videos on their smartphones.
For those who need a quick refresher–timelapse is a photography technique where the frequency at which frames are captured is lower than the rate that the film sequence is viewed. English please? It looks like time is moving faster (hence the name timelapse).
Imagine the world through the Roadrunner’s eyes. Yep, that pretty much sums up Hyperlapse. You can record video in real time and then choose a playback speed between one and 12 times the original. But once you set them in motion, make sure you condense them to 15 seconds or less for posting to Instagram.
Want to know the best part? It’s free. Say what? Basically your iPhone (shattered screen and all) stands in for $15,000 worth of fancy video equipment. Cue the applause. Just make it fast.
