In the Media: Positive Changes’ Lisa Hamilton Joins 10 TV News to Talk Hypnotherapy
March is National Sleep Awareness Month, and 70 million Americans are not getting enough sleep. According to the CDC, sleep deprivation is a public health epidemic that increases one’s risk of diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, hypertension, cancer and obesity. Certified hypnotist Lisa Hamilton joined 10 TV News to reveal how hypnotherapy helped Sunny 95 radio personality Trisha Moore get some much-needed sleep.
Though Trisha first visited Positive Changes to lose weight, she also suffered from sleep deprivation. As she started shedding pounds, Trisha found she was also sleeping better. Lisa explained that, “Hypnosis is done in a state very close to sleep, where patients drift off into that deep restorative sleep that they’re really lacking.” In this way hypnotherapy prepares patients to sleep more soundly throughout the night, even when they’re being treated for issues besides sleep deprivation.
Though many people think of TV depictions when they hear the word “hypnosis”, Lisa explains that hypnotherapy is nothing like stage hypnosis. She helps patients struggling with issues like weight loss, smoking, sleep deprivation, anxiety, memory, confidence and stress to modify their behaviors and overcome these obstacles to live happier lives. Lisa says hypnotherapy helps patients escape the stress of their everyday lives to better address their issues, “We take people down into a state of deep relaxation where the stress of the issue they’re working on goes away.” In this state of relaxation, a person is able to more easily combat the issue and get real results.
