Client Spotlight: Dr. Pinsky Discusses the Dental Facelift on News Channel 8
There’s Botox, fillers and anti aging creams–but now there’s a dental facelift that could take up to 10 years off your age. Dr. David Pinsky of State of the Art Dental Group reveals on Good Morning Washington that the best way to turn back time is to look after your smile.
“We’re talking about a dental facelift here,” Dr. Pinsky tells News Channel 8’s Autria Godfrey. People take care of their hair and nails and even turn to Botox to look younger, but they often overlook their teeth. Over time, the combination of tooth discoloration and thinning enamel can make teeth appear gray, adding years to a person’s profile.
Dr. Pinsky recommends using a gel whitening tray to remove stains for a whiter, brighter smile. “There’s special toothpaste you should be using before you use the whitener,” he reminds Godfrey, “it gets rid of the sensitivity in the teeth”. Dr. Pinsky also points out that those who enjoy drinking coffee, red wine and tea, should be sure to use a straw to minimize teeth staining.
But as Godfrey learns, there’s more to anti-aging dentistry than just whitening your teeth. To optimize anti-aging effects, Dr. Pinsky stresses the importance of flossing. Neglecting to floss can cause gum recession, and even gum disease which can attack the gums, teeth and bones supporting the lower third of the face–making you look older. For people who have trouble flossing, Dr. Pinsky recommends using an air flosser to remove plaque.
