On Air: The Secret Ingredient in Epicure’s Success
Healthy eating is far from bland and boring. Case in point: Epicure, the web series where top chefs and top doctors from The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates come together to whip up good food that’s good for your health. Host Marc Silverstein and Dr. Amr Madkour, Obstetrician Gynecologist at GW MFA and featured doctor on the Pregnancy Tapas episode, stopped by the Foodie and the Beast radio show to give a glimpse into what it takes to conceptualize and produce the Telly Award-winning series.
Merging delicious meals and healthy living is made possible by the collaboration between celebrity chefs such as Spike Mendelsohn, David Guas and Vikram Sunderam and specialty doctors from GW MFA, the largest independent physicians group in Washington, D.C. Together, they create culinary masterpieces that meet an array of dietary needs. Epicure has served up all kinds of dishes–low-fat, gluten-free, pregnancy-friendly and the list goes on.
Dr. Madkour has seen the benefit of Epicure with his patients, because it opens up the doors for conversations about nutrition. The web series is always changing the way people cook, according to Silverstein. Moderation and substitutions are key.
