Breaking: Twitter Releases New, Longer Tweets

We’ve all been there: foiled from tweeting because you topped the 140 character limit. But now, trying to shorten your message by deleting words or riiting in abbrevs (writing in abbreviations) may finally be a problem of the past. Twitter just changed the way it counts characters, giving users some much needed flexibility to say (a bit) more.

Twitter’s new update lets you add photos, videos, polls, GIFs and @names in your tweets without those links counting as characters. Long story short, the new tweets will give users over 20 more characters per tweet without sacrificing the 140-character limit that made Twitter so popular in the first place. Many social media fanatics around the globe are busy thinking about the endless ways they can take advantage of these new changes.
