The hard-hitting debate show, Square Off with Richard Sher, invited OTMM client, Susan Green of Hardball Law to discuss a few controversial topics in the news today. Along with three other attorneys and a high profile political activist, Susan weighed in on three separate topics.

The first topic was about the Morgan State cannibal, Alexander Kenya. Could there have been anything done differently to save the life of his roommate? Who is at fault? Several times during the segment, Susan repeated the phrase “Virginia Tech waiting to happen.” She believes that Morgan State should be accountable. “Why didn’t they do anything? That is a very strong statement to ignore.” She explains. She continues to discuss the red flags and early abuses that were made known to the University, yet they still did nothing.

The next topic was right up Susan’s ally as she was the only woman on the panel and she had just won the biggest gender bias case in Maryland a few months prior. Recently, the Paycheck Fairness Act was put in question by Senator Mikulski. She was furious that republicans would not vote for fair pay for women and brought it up in the Senate. While a few of the men on the panel disagreed, Susan laid out the both sides perfectly.

“Everyone is going to say it is a Democratic play and that its just meant to secure the women’s vote… however, you cannot deny that there is gender bias and inequality in pay in 2012.”

The final topic was about the Wisconsin recall fail. Democrats in Wisconsin demanded a recall of Governor Scott Walker (R) for problems centering on union rights and Wisconsin’s cash strapped budget. Many of the panel members believed this victory for the Republicans would carry over into the presidential election. Susan remains unconvinced. She stated that election time is 5 months away—”election time is like dog years” so many things can change so quickly.
