Jamachi Plastic Surgery & Medispa is a full-service plastic and reconstructive surgery practice and medical spa in Silver Spring, Maryland. Led by Dr. Chukwuemeka Onyewu, Jamachi is staffed with highly trained and experienced doctors, therapists, aestheticians and technicians. Dr. Onyewu is highly sought out by local and national media for his expertise on the treatment and care of ethnic skin. Jamachi has a second plastic and reconstructive surgery practice in Lagos, Nigeria.

Challenge

 

In its 14th year, FOR SISTERS ONLY (FSO) is the highly anticipated annual “Girls’ Day Out” for African-American women in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. FSO showcases hundreds of exhibitors at the DC Convention Center each November. The full day event hosts a variety of expert panels and celebrity musical performances. With an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with thousands of women in its key demographic, Jamachi called upon On The Marc Media to make them stand out among the rows and rows of vendors.

Solution

 

On The Marc Media crafted a detailed and comprehensive event marketing strategy during a three-month period leading up to FSO. Tactics included social media engagement on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, website updates, blogging, e-mail distributions, radio advertising, graphic design, marketing collateral design and publishing, booth design, and day-of staffing and logistics.

 

Much effort was put into connecting with attendees prior to and during the expo via social media and other communications methods in order to create anticipation for the “Jamachi Experience in Booth 419.”

Results

 

During the expo, Jamachi quickly became the relaxation and rejuvenation destination that everyone wanted to visit. Their 10×10 booth was transformed into a spa oasis, complete with relaxing chair massages and mini-facials, one-on-one plastic surgery Q&As with Dr. Onyewu and fabulous giveaways each hour.

 

This was the first time Jamachi participated in FSO. The results exceed their pre-set goals:

 

  • Collected contact information from more 200 event attendees
  • Increased Instagram followership by 300% the week following FSO
  • More than two dozen on-site consultations
  • Increase in traffic to www.jamachi.com
  • Increase in booking of procedure consultations with Dr. Onyewu
  • Increase in booking of appointments with the medispa

 

As a result of positive feedback from attendees, fellow vendors and the hosting organization, Jamachi is gearing up for subsequent FSOs.
